CSLS In-School License Exam Preparation
Our in-school program includes 30 hours of instruction to prepare you to take the California Contractors State License Examination. The program is ideal for anyone looking for a comprehensive and complete program of study methods and content guaranteed to help you pass the contractors exam the first time around. The program provides a supportive environment to keep you on target so you can get your license quickly and painlessly. Available in English and Spanish, the In-School program features:
Live In-School Instruction
Fourteen hours of live instruction taught by a qualified and experienced instructor. The classroom setting allows for individual attention and the opportunity for classroom discussion and immediate response to questions our students may have. Program content is relevant to day-in, day-out Contractor practice and the California Contractors State License Examination such as Contractors Business Law:
- Law governing all contractors and enforced by the CA Contractors State License Board
- Employee Relations and Labor Law pertaining to employees including Employment Development Department Laws
- Safety & CAL/OSHA law
- Mechanic’s Liens, Stop Notices & Preliminary Notices – How to fill out, file and collect construction funds
- Workers Compensation – How the system works and who needs it
- Basic Accounting for running your own business covering management, taxes, and financial statements
- Essential Business Management topics such as business planning, State and Federal mandates, payroll taxes and business taxes (FICA, IRS, Unemployment tax, Sales tax, and Use Tax)
CSLS Signature Business Law & Trade “Crash Course”
Our signature business, law and trade crash course method is recognized statewide and offers another 16 hours of focused preparation, including live instruction. The timing and content of the crash course prepares you to successfully take your state exam by refreshing your memory and sharpening your recall immediately in advance of your scheduled exam. The crash course covers the most recent state administered questions on law, business, math, and trade. During the crash course, instructors assess your strengths and weaknesses and provide instruction in needed areas so you pass the state exam the first time.
Practice Testing
Practice testing prepares you for the exam process and allows you to track your understanding of the material and process of examination. We offer tests at the end of each class session, computer testing, study practice tests and additional testing at the crash course. By passing these tests, we guarantee you will pass the California Contractors State License Examination the First Time or pay nothing for tuition.

One-Day & Two-Day Business Law & Trade Crash Course
Need a booster study session before you take the Contractors State License exam? Our business, law and trade crash course is recognized statewide and offers 8 to 16 hours of focused preparation, including live instruction, over Saturday and/or Sunday. The seminar will cover the most recent state-administered questions on law, business, math, and trade and offer practice tests and computer testing. During the crash course, an instructor will assess your strengths and weaknesses and provide instruction in needed areas to help prepare you to pass the state exam.
Need a study session for just law or just for your trade? You can purchase just a single day in the live instruction crash course on either the Saturday Law Session or the Sunday Trade Session.
Self-Study Crash Course
You can purchase One-Day Law Self Study, One-Day Trade Self Study or the Two-Day Self
Study package which includes both. These study sessions are available in any of our school locations. It includes a pre-exam to measure your knowledge, access to the in-school study materials, practice tests, computer testing and then a final exam.
